That’s right. It’s been almost five years since the last national test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS), and there’s only one week left until the next big test on September 28. To prepare, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has conducted several statewide and regional EAS tests and worked hard to educate broadcasters across the country on what to expect. But a test is only worthwhile if performance results are collected and reviewed for both success and areas in need of improvement. To that end, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recently launched the EAS Test Reporting System, a new online reporting system that all broadcasters and other EAS participants must use to chart their participation in the test, among other information. Please join us for a prep session with experts from FEMA and the FCC who will provide important guidance on the upcoming national EAS test and answer any last minute questions.
